The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission announced yesterday that they will allow anglers to fish two weekends in June without Florida fishing licenses. The license free weekends are June 4 and 5, opening weekend for red snapper in the Gulf, and June 18 and 19, Father’s Day weekend.
The FWC also expanded scallop season which opens June 25 and closes Sept. 25.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida State Parks will also offer half off admission on both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day to their 160 parks throughout the state.
“I encourage Floridians and visitors to our state to make plans now to enjoy Florida fishing and seafood during the upcoming free-fishing weekends in June. Whether you catch it yourself or get it from a market or restaurant, our seafood is the best in the nation,” said Governor Rick Scott.
