Florida Fishing License Facts

Every year, as mini-season for lobster approaches, I rush over to my local Kmart or Walmart to renew my saltwater fishing license. Issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, this license grants me the permission to participate in the wonderful experience of fishing.

The FWC issues more than 200 licenses, permits and certifications each year required for a range of outdoor activities that impact Florida wildlife.

My annual renewal not only allows me the opportunity to fish, but also benefits other marine organizations and causes. The money collected from this license is used to enhance and rebuild fish habitat and contributes to marine fisheries research, law enforcement and marine resource education.
