New regulations proposed for bonefish and redfish

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission drafted a proposal to make bonefish a catch-and-release only fish, protecting them in the south Florida area.

Bonefish regulations are currently at a one per day bag limit. However, most Florida anglers are part of a conservation effort to release bonefish catches. Tournament anglers will be allowed to temporarily possess a bonefish for record.

Another proposal drafted by the FWC ruled that the redfish bag limit in northern Florida would be raised from one fish to two per person.

Management of redfish in Florida has become successful and exceeded the expectations of the FWC.
